I became a teacher because I love being around young people and sharing my enthusiasm for French! I fell in love with French in an Exploratory French class when I was 12 years old. I first majored in mathematics at Cal Poly Pomona and transferred to UC Riverside to pursue my interest in French. I received my undergraduate degree from UCR in 1989 and spent the next three months living with a family in southern France, with whom I am still in contact. I then fell in love with teaching young people when I took on a long-term substitute teaching job in Southern California for the 1989-1990 school year. Because of that experience, I received my teaching credential from UC Santa Barbara in 1992 and taught French and mathematics at Pacific Grove High School from 1992 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011 I worked for NOAA and Surfrider to pursue another one of my passions: educating the Monterey Bay community about plastic pollution. I have been teaching French, Math 6, and advising the Environmental Club at CMS since the Fall of 2011 and look forward to continuing to share my passions with the students of Carmel Middle School.
