We were just about to debate the Keystone Pipeline...then tonight this is at the top of the news! https://www.yahoo.com/news/keystone-pipeline-leaks-210k-gallons-230601176.html

is it the mantle that has a partially fluid plastic consistency

Gazing at the Jellies19:12 Jason:

nobody knows for sure but both the inner mantle and asnthenosphere (lower upper mantle) have that. Upper upper mantle is solid though

19:12 Sophia:

thank you!

19:13 Sophia:

can you also explain #30

Can you please ask the question as I do not have the study guide in front of me. Thanks

Mike Trout # 2719:16 Graham:

#25. Describe how this rock formation below originated from a metamorphic rock.

Gazing at the Jellies19:17 Jason:

that gets in to rock cycle stories. That is an eroded and weathered sedimentary rock so the granite could have been weathered and eroded, transported down a stream and the sediments cemenetd and compacted...then uplift!

One the last page of the study guide it says "give an example of a specific type of subsurface mining." What would be the answer to that?

Gazing at the Jellies19:31 Jason:

Extraction: think of all the things we have talked about with respect to mining (specific water, air, and biosiversity impacts); pracessing: chemicals used get left in tailings bonds which can contaminae groundwater; discarding results in substances going into a landfill and leaching into groundwater or giving off methane depending on the substance

Gazing at the Jellies19:31 Jason:

specific type of subsurface mining was from the warm-up diagram and called shaft mining
